AUTOCON NEW TROPHY UNVEILED AHEAD OF AUTOCON LA
Stunning Obelisk Symbolizes The Pinnacle Of The Enthusiast Community
Los Angeles, Calif. (Apr 22nd, 2013) – Autocon Events, the organization that’s been bringing automotive enthusiasts together around the best built vehicles since 2010, today unveiled its stunning new Obelisk trophy, to be awarded to the three finest vehicles at each AutoCon event for the 2013 Calendar. At last, an award truly worthy of the best of automotive culture.
A new holy grail for enthusiasts to aspire to – intangible to all but a select few. A symbol befitting the elite of the elite. A trophy truly worth competing for. Like the Obelisks of ancient Egypt, the AutoCon obelisk serves as symbol for the finest builds imaginable. Just as car customization varies by region, each AutoCon show will bestow three obelisks on the three best judged vehicles at the event.
Designed specifically for AutoCon, these three trophies can be found nowhere else. Tired of the ubiquitous ‘generic’ sports trophy at every car show, designer and AutoCon organizer Justin Fong thought long about what would come to serve as the new symbol of AutoCon. It had to be something special. And that’s how it started. Dozens of sketches, three months of building and evaluating prototypes and innumerable hours of lost sleep, the final design was chosen. Something unique to AutoCon. The Obelisk.
Measuring approximately 18” tall and weighing in at 5 lbs, this sleek, black acrylic wholly original design with its sharp lines and angles seems the perfect fit for the event. Constructed by the people of Players Choice (Santa Ana, CA), each Obelisk takes over 12 hours to assemble. A hand-built trophy suitable for the hand-built vehicles on display at AutoCon each year.
Returning for its fourth year, AutoCon 2013 will bring together hundreds of the nation’s finest classic, modified and luxury exotic vehicles, surrounded by some of the most beautiful models in the industry to the Santa Anita racetrack grounds. A celebration of Car Culture, AutoCon mashes up the traditional enthusiast car show with food, music and fashion in a way that truly represents the community. Score vendor giveaways, check out the big-tent attractions, manufacturer “New Vehicle” and product debuts or even see a live Magazine photo shoot take place. Both beautiful women and vehicles will be highlighted on the Model Runway and on our Drive-On stage, where we’ll be showcasing different vehicles throughout the event, with builder interviews by our Guest Speakers and the audience.
